The Planes of Your Body

The body has three planes or directions in which it can move: front/back, up/down, and side/side. When a joint is stable in all planes, the muscles that surround it balance and work efficiently. If a joint is not stable, then muscles that are already strong in one plane work first and continue to get stronger, while the weak muscles further deteriorate, which also causes ligaments to overstretch. Remember to concentrate on proper body positioning, because you will be trying to work the muscles that like to stay passive while releasing tension from the muscles screaming to work, because it’s more convenient to rely on your existing strength.
